This position provides direction on strategic options to the EVP and the entire executive team on the affiliate's $49M campaign. The SWA holds the AHA's record for 3, 5 and 7 year sustained growth in campaign revenue while, at the same time, is one of the most fiscally sound affiliates in the organization. SWA campaign growth last year was 12.5%. This is a high performing team. We have the top walk and the top gala in the country. We led the nation in growth in all three corporate special events. But there are many opportunities for growth: corporate relations and workplace giving, chair and ELT giving, stewardship, major gifts, youth market, and more.
As a member of the senior leadership team and senior development team you will help define business operations for the affiliate, play a key role in top decisions made across all departments and work with all senior leaders to develop and execute sound business strategies. Selected candidate may live in any location within or outside of the affiliate that allows for cost effective and efficient travel to SWA offices.
General Description:
The SVP of Development & Customer Strategies provides leadership and guidance for the Southwest Affiliate (SWA) on revenue generating strategies related to the affiliate's campaign revenue, operational activities and centralized income. This includes but is not limited to goal setting, creating projections, affiliate/market analysis, incentives and establishing and maintaining quality metrics and reports for the affiliate development team and development functions (Corporate and Youth Market) affiliate-wide.
Functions include, but are not limited to ensuring the quality and integrity of data and reports; ensuring systems are established and followed to increase efficiencies with reporting; and representing the SWA Development Team on numerous national and affiliate committees and special projects. Essential Functions Include: ' Member of SWA Senior Leadership Team and Senior Development Team ' Representing Development on numerous project teams, committees, task forces, etc. ' Designing reports to support annual campaign activities ' Analyzing and evaluating data and determining sources for generating reports ' Supervising Heart Walk and Social Event customer support teams ' Acting as consultant regarding fundraising policies and interfacing with national finance, legal, and development staff as needed ' Working in collaboration with Affiliate and National Corporate Relations Team to drive field activation ' Completing ad hoc requests and projects as requested by the EVP
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree ' At least 5 years proven experience in development
- Proven ability to analyze data for patterns and trends, and present data in actionable ways
- Strong strategic ability
- Strong consultation and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Strong experience with Microsoft Office applications ' Skilled written and oral communications
- Ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff, volunteers, professionals and the general public
- Ability to work independently and make appropriate, effective decisions related to project management responsibilities and to initiate and follow-up on assigned tasks without supervision
- Ability to anticipate and respond to customer needs; self starter and customer service oriented
- Ability to work evenings/weekends on occasion and travel up to 25% during the first year in role, with travel of up to 5% upon successful understanding of the SWA development operations and personnel
