JCI Industries is looking for a Motor Shop Lead to join our team in Lee's Summit, MO. As an Motor Shop Lead, you will be responsible for the repair and rebuild of electric motors and submersible pumps, as well as lead a team of 8-10 mechanics.
What You'll Do:
  • Train and develop associate skill levels to include but not limited to: on-the-job training, cross-training coverage, safe work habits, and good housekeeping in the motor shop.
  • Support ongoing development of associates by providing clear performance expectations, specific feedback on behaviors, effective coaching, mentoring, identifying, and providing developmental opportunities.
  • Identify, develop, and implement process improvements and changes in equipment, tooling, and manufacturing processes supporting cost and quality efficiencies.
  • Approve time/absence reporting, attendance control, vacation planning, overtime, etc.
  • Work closely with management and Human Resources on annual reviews, pay raises, attendance, rewards, disciplinary and any other personnel issues that may arise.
  • Conduct thorough diagnostics to identify electric motors and related components issues.
  • Perform repairs, overhauls, and routine maintenance on various electric motors, including but not limited to AC and DC motors.
  • Verify the functionality and efficiency of repaired motors by conducting tests and quality control checks.
  • Maintain detailed records of work performed, parts used, and other relevant information.
  • Identify and source replacement parts as needed, ensuring timely availability.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards to guarantee a safe working environment.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to explain repair processes, provide estimates, and address any questions or concerns.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

What You'll Need:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of experience in repair/service of electrical motors.
  • 2+ years of experience in a supervisory or leadership position.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with medium voltage, high horsepower motors preferred.
