Payroll Specialist

Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Payroll Specialist position. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.

Job Summary:

Responsible for the execution and support of payroll processes for Fike Corporation including the timely and accurate preparation and execution of exempt and non-exempt payrolls, tax deposits, transactions, and reports.

Primary Responsibilities:

Payroll:

1. Assists in the timely and accurate execution of the payroll cycle for multiple payrolls in multiple payroll tools.

2. Reviews time card data to ensure accuracy and completeness, and follows up with responsible departments as required to resolve identified exceptions.

3. Interprets and serves as point of contact for all garnishments and child support documents, and ensures proper withholding distributions are processed. Notifies impacted parties within Fike and writes up AP payments, as needed.

4. Ensures adherence to payroll tax regulations including Federal, State, and Local.

5. Registers for tax withholding with new states as employees are hired and ensures relevant tax id information is entered, maintained, and updated as needed.

6. Responsible for personal mileage and gas credit card charge reimbursement monthly.

7. Assist in reviewing all W2's, SSA 131's and 1099's at year end.

8. Assist in quarterly and year-end system reporting activities.

9. Acts as the backup to the Payroll Administrator, assuming all duties in their absence.

10. Responsible for worker's compensation audits, including preparing and submitting reporting.

11. Promptly responds to all Verification of Employment requests.

12. Assist with employee questions and troubleshooting issues.

13. Performs other accounting procedures when required, and assists with Payroll function with other projects, and tasks as requested.

14. Adheres to company policies and procedures.

15. Maintains the strict confidentiality of all information processed.

Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the environment is general office work and the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, hear, see, sit, and use hands.

Job Qualifications:

Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. One to two years of payroll experience. Strong PC skills. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines. Able to interface effectively with all levels. Demonstrated team player and service skills.

Preferred: Certified Payroll Professional. Exposure to Paylocity online tool highly preferred. Exposure to Principal online tool. Strong Excel skills a plus.
