This leader will work in the National and Regional market segments to build a team to prospect and qualify future clients. This position is designed to be both a leadership role responsible for building a managing a team of demand generators as well as a sales execution role performing time developing leads. The position is accountable for driving new business growth within both market segments developing strategies and execution plans to generate serious interest is our products and services directly with potential clients.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, hires, and manages performance of staff (2-3 employees) providing ongoing feedback, conducting regularly scheduled 1:1s and facilitating the performance management process in a timely manner
  • Leads team pipeline generation, using a curated set of UHG sales tools and prospecting persistence to identify and validate opportunities
  • Guides team members to attain monthly and quarterly goals for their targeted prospective employers providing support and direction to enable the success of the team
  • Achieves a set team goal of qualified prospect leads on a monthly or quarterly basis
  • Removes barriers and obstacles for team members, motivates and inspires team members to meet their goals
  • Monitors execution of the team towards monthly and quarterly goas, achieves a set team goal of qualified prospect leads (and other similar metrics) on an annual basis
  • Define an execution plan and approach that delivers significant interest in UHC product and services through working directly with potential clients and developing productive relationships
  • Be a subject matter expert both externally and internally in representing our organizational capabilities and persuasively share that knowledge to potential clients generating interest
  • Execute a prospecting strategy for assigned target(s) to ensure the organization fosters productive relationships with targeted employers
  • Anticipate industry trends and assess competitor positioning to proactively position the company for long term success that translates to revenue growth and the development of new enterprise strategic relationships for UnitedHealth Group
  • Ensure accurate and timely entry of sales prospect information using our sales tracking tools as well as timely management reporting
  • Maintain a highly credible and visible professional profile within the industry including representing the organization in meetings, seminars, trade shows and networking events
  • Be a positive force and a team leader; communicate issues, concerns, and problems in a solution-oriented manner
  • Partner collaboratively with our existing VPs of Sales and national/regional resources to maximize new business results

Required Qualifications:

  • Sales license maintained by state law or ability to obtain within 30 days
  • 5+ years of successful sales experience preferably in the group Employee Benefit industry or at minimum a proven track record of developing relationships through the sales process with large employers
  • 2+ years of experience managing and leading teams
  • Consulting experience working with large complex customers
  • Demonstrated successful consultative sales experience calling on prospective employer customers
  • Demonstrated solid strategic focus and orientation in addressing and solving complex issues
  • Clearly demonstrated strengths in persuasion, oral/written communications, analytical skills and sales production
  • Ability to assess problems and implement solutions based on sound marketing, operational and financial principles
  • The ability to identify and develop creative solutions to address a wide variety of unique market problems and opportunities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading a demand generation sales team or developing and executing on a demand generation strategy

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $60,000 to $130,000 annually. Role is also eligible to receive bonuses based on sales performance. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
