The Position

A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available for a highly motivated and independent candidate to join the laboratory of Dr. Soren Warming in the Department of Molecular Biology at Genentech. The group uses and develops state-of-the-art genome engineering and editing tools to address basic research questions, generate disease models and facilitate drug discovery. Goals for this position include the development and application of novel in vivo tools that greatly facilitate drug discovery as well as exploration of human genetics using innovative combinations of genetic tools and the latest genome engineering/editing technology. The Genentech scientific community provides access to generous state-of-the-art resources.

The Opportunity:

  • You will be able to take advantage of in-house expertise in mouse genetics, animal model generation and advanced cell line engineering as well as novel CRISPR-based tools.

  • As a member of the Department of Molecular Biology, you will join a genome engineering and technology-focused group of innovative collaborators

  • You will be part of the Genentech post-doctoral training program that provides an outstanding environment and the opportunity to pursue fundamental basic science questions in an environment focused on drug development and breakthrough discoveries.

Who You Are:

  • Ph.D. with a proven track record of excellence in Cellular or Molecular Biology and/or Genetics

  • Must have advanced at least one key research project as evidenced by a first author paper published or accepted in a leading peer-reviewed journal.

  • Independent scientist with outstanding communication skills, a strong passion and commitment to science and genome engineering technology development, who works well within a team.

  • Excited about developing and applying cutting-edge genome engineering tools in vivo to address big questions

Preferred:

  • Hands-on experience using the mouse as a genetic model system is highly desired

  • Track record from hands-on experience with CRISPR technology

  • Working knowledge of bioinformatics is a significant plus.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco California is $64,800 and $120,300. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
